This guide requires a user within a Group with a Manager group Role. If you don't have this role, you will NOT be able to make the necessary changes.

Group Managers can manage users in their respective groups. This includes adding users, editing their roles, and removing users.

Requirements

  • The target user must have an active account and have previously logged into Drupal.
  • You will need to know the JHED ID of the target user. Usually this is the same as their email address.

Roles

The following roles are available to Group users:

  • Editor - Can create new content within the group. (NO publishing)
  • Moderator - Can manage content (publishing included) within the group.
  • Manager - Can manage menus, content, and users; they can also  edit some group configurations within their group.

Add a User to a Group

  1. From your group Homepage or Content tab
  2. Navigate to the Members tab
  3. Select the Add Member button on the top left corner

  4. Start typing the JHED ID of the user in the User field. A dropdown with available options will appear. Select the User that matches the desired JHED ID.
    • If you can't find it. Ensure the requirements are met and the user has logged in before.

  5. Select the appropriate Role(s) for the user. NOTE: The permissions for each role will add onto, as opposed to include, all roles with less permissions. Because of that, if you select Moderator, please also select Editor. If you select Manager, please also select Editor and Moderator.

  6. And finally, Save

Edit the Role of a User in a Group

  1. From the Members tab
  2. Find by JHED ID the target user

  1. From the Members tab
  2. Find by JHED ID the target user
  3. In the Operations column, you should see a dropdown button, select the Remove Member option
  4. In the Confirmation screen select Delete.

Keep in mind that this will ONLY remove the member from your group. It will NOT delete the user from our system.
